Book Club - The Nightingale by Kristin Hannah

In this episode of Literature on the Rocks

We’re diving deep into our Nightingale book club episode, and trust us—this one hit us right in the feels. From Isabelle’s reckless bravery to Vianne’s quiet, gut-wrenching sacrifices, this story had us reflecting on what it really means to survive during wartime. And if you’ve ever doubted your own strength, these sisters might just make you rethink that.

We’re answering our book prompts, unpacking the beautifully complex (and sometimes heartbreaking) relationship between Vianne and her daughter, and wondering how anyone managed to hold it together in a time so relentlessly cruel. Oh—and you know we had thoughts on Vianne and Antoine’s marriage too. Love, duty, survival—it’s all in there, and we’re talking about it.

Kristin Hannah gave us a story soaked in sorrow and courage, and this episode is our love letter to the characters who kept going even when they didn’t know how.

If you’re skipping the gin this week, don’t worry—we’ve got a mocktail version of our La Résistance cocktail that still brings all the French flair, minus the hangover.
